Here it is people: Presenting...Battle Chasers # 1!  There are many covers to this book, but the story is still the same, and great if I might add, in all of them!  Our story starts with darkened figures looming over a boiling hot mask, being lowered onto a man's face.  A scream.   Enter: Knolan.  He wakes up from the horrible nightmare, which he has had many times before.  He talks aloud, calling for someone called Calibretto to bring him some more firewood, as the fire in the fireplace has died down.

We turn the page, and see none other than little Gully, still running with the precious box (Continued from BC Prelude!).   What secret does it still hold secret?  She's running through the forest, when out pops one of the lycelots- the wolf-like creatures that seem to be the root of all evil!  He bites Gully's hood, and flings her into a tree!

You'll never get it you mean old wolf!

She is very frightened, but still will not give up the box.  Other wolves catch up, and Gully is told to run by the lycelots.  Of course she does, and eventually finds a disserted city, called Granok.   She enters a building, looks out a window...and hears the sound of wood shredding!   The wolf leader has found her!  She picks up a pick ax, and gives a threat that doesn't do much good.  The lycelot breaks the ax in half.  Is Gully through?  The wolf says a taunt about her father being dead, and now Gully's mad!   She throws what's left of the ax at him , which is a sharpened piece of wood!   It goes deep into the wolf's neck!

Go Gully!

She climbs up some boxes and out of a window, and preceeds to start running again.  She stumbles, drops the box; when something comes out of the shadows holding it.  Enter: Calibretto, disguised in a layer of robes.  Gully thinks he is also after the precious box, and she screams at him, "Why are you doing this?!!" and things of that nature.

Enter: Calibretto!

Calibretto opens his hand.  A green light glows.  Gully thinks she is done for.  He shoots out three golfball sized balls from his hands, which immediately go straight through a lycelot! The wolf was about to kill Gully!  Gully realizes the stranger means her no harm.  He leans over to give her back the box, when three arrows coming wizzing from the opposite direction and find their way right into his back!  Another lycelot is found hiding in a tree!  A small cannon rips out from Calibretto's shoulder, and a shot of fire heads toward the wolf, who had just leapt from the tree!   He was not impressed and preceded to make it clear, but then, amazingly, Calibretto shifts his body, and jams his massive hand right into the wolf's face!  I bet NOW the wolf is impressed!  He proceeds to *ahem* beat the living "tar" out of this wolf!

Bretto to the rescue!

He then raises his hand towards the sky.  At that exact moment, a crack of lightning comes straight down from the heavans and actually enters into Calibretto's hand and channels through his body!   His clothes shread, but, besides that massive energy absorption, he stands up!  The lightning had burnt away all of Calibretto's disguise- his cloth shawl and overall- revealing his true form for the first time!  He had absorbed all the energy from the lightning!  He warns Gully to stay behind him and out of the way of the fight.

Bretto revealed!

Then, Calibretto's arm changes into some device.  More wolves appear. They think he is crippled from the lightning.   How little they know...they charge him, and when Calibretto puts his hand into the ground.....THOOM!!!  He channeled the enegry from the bolt of lightning, and made it rip right through the ground!  It, of course, incinerates all of the remaining wolves. Calibretto then tells Gully that they must take cover, and that he won't survive another attack.  We move on to a village...a very run down village, called Vandelheim.  In the middle of the city lies the Death's Door Saloon, a bar for the murderers and and the other ones who have fallen from grace.  A shadowy figure appears.  Enter: Red Monika.  We turn to the next page, where Red shouts, "GARRISON! I need you."  Enter: the drunken Garrison.  Red Monika offers him a chance to redeem himself past what he has become, and to go back to being the brilliant and feared fighter she used to love years ago.

Come on, Garrison!

Monika states that she has been hired to spring Ryon del Soya, an infamous terrorist, from a heavily guarded prison called Skyhold.  She lays out detailed floor plans of the infamous Skyhold.  Garrison laughs at this suggested attack on Skyhold.  Red's cronies get pretty angry now, and tell him that thy will not mock the great lady!  Monika stops them from busting him up on the grounds that it was pointless to bust up a drunken has-been.  Garrison takes another drink, and Red Monika finally knocks away the cup in disgust.  She stabs a knife into the table; She tells Garrison to end his life, and go to Hell.   Garrison thinks to himself in a sad, and dejected tone, "...Already there."

We move on to an abonded wood shed, where Gully is trying to pry open the misterious box with a crow bar- but to no avail.  Calibretto explains to her that the box has been sealed with magic, and that he knows someone who can help.  Namely a powerful wizard- Knolan.  They had not had the chance to introduce themselves, so Gully states her name, and who her father was.   'Bretto was impressed and this last fact.  Gully then asks him why he was out in the forest at that time when he rescued her.  Calibretto explains that he had been planting a type of flower that needed that mineral rich soil near Granok.  The flower is almost extinct, he explains.  Gully then gives him a hug with a smile on her face.   Gully then explains what had happened to her in her home and why she ended up in the forest.  She finishs telling him her story, and at the end asks, "Why? What's so important about this stupid box?!"

We move back out to the forest, where a badly hurt wolf is seen stumbling along.  He asks for "M-Master?". A voice is heard.  He tells the wolf to give him the box.  The lycelot explains he doesn't have it, and in a fairly frightened voice.  He explains that tracking them will be no problem, but he will need proper equipment to take ou the powerful war golem, Calibretto.  It is promised to the wolf by the Master, but the Master makes sure to explain that he shouldn't fail him again...in a very dark voice...!

We turn the page, where, heh, Knolan is turning pages in his giant spellbook.  He's looking for a cure for his insomnia.

Damn insomnia!

The pages strangely start turning themselves, and stop on one of Knolan's maps of the Mana Region.  Then a fire starts right where the Mana Region is on the map!  Knolan wonders what's going on, when suddenly there is a noise at the door.  He opens it, and it reveals his long lost friend, Calibretto!  He starts his questions by asking 'Bretto where he has been, when Gully is suddenly revealed from behind Calibretto.  Knolan looks surprised, and tells them to come inside and to Calibretto to bring Gully some blankets.  Gully takes a little nap, awakens, and tells Knolan her story.  He asks him if he can open the box, and she complies.  A wave of Knolan's index finger, & bam! The magical and mysterious box is finally opened!  Let's turn to the last page, shall we?   Two magical gloves float out of the box.  Knolan knows who they belong to- they were Aramus'.  He knows he has made a grave mistake by opening that box...

Aramus' gloves- revealed!

    To Be Continued!
