Joe Madureira's Battle Chasers!

   Joe Madureira, one of today's youngest and hottest artists in the comic book business, has launched a brand-new comic called Battle Chasers in a brand-new line of creator-owned comic books simply titles Cliffhanger.  Danger Girl and Crimson are grouped together along with Joe Madureira's Battle Chasers in a new sub-section of Jim Lee's WildStorm Productions.  These three creator-owned titles debuted in 1998 between the months of March and May, and are wildly popular among comic book fans world-wide.   But of all the three Cliffhanger titles, Battle Chasers is by far the most popular!

    "When I set out to create Battle Chasers, I decided that I wanted it to be different from every other comic out there. Not only did I not want to do a typical superhero book, but I didn't even want it to take place on Earth!  I created a whole new world, with strange creatures existing throughout, only some of which are even human.

    Fate brings the four central characters in Battle Chasers together, and they soon begin to uncover the mysteries of this world, and the great powers that threaten it.  It's one great adventure after the next, with some of the nastiest villains my mind could conceive.  Featured here, for your viewing pleasure, are some early sketches of the main characters that you can expect to see in Battle Chasers.."

LET'S MEET THE HEROES.

First there's GARRISON.   A mighty warrior who's fierce courage and dazzling swordplay have made him a legend.  However, he has chosen to retire his sword and create a new life for himself and the woman he loves.  So at first, he'll want nothing to do with the rest of the group.

KNOLAN may look like a goofy old guy, but he's actually a powerful mage, whose unorthodox magical practices have made him an outcast among other wizards.  he is also one of the oldest living beings on this world, but what secrets does he hide?   His secretive nature will cause distrust among others in the group.

GULLY, though a 9-year-old child, possesses magic gauntlets which boost her strength to "near-Hulk" levels.  The tallest oaks are mere twigs to Gully, but she will learn that physical strength isn't enough to deal with certain situations.   This power may prove to be a burden too great for her tiny shoulders to bear.

CALIBRETTO is a war-golem left over from a bygone age, when machines were used to wage war across the world.  He was fund and repaired by Knolan, and now lives with him as his aid, even though robots are outlawed and killed on sight in this day and age.  Although Calibretto possesses a vast destructive power for which he was created, he is gentle in nature and enjoys sneaking out to document the many fascinating creatures that roam the forests behind Knolan's hut.

RED MONIKA, Ruthless Bounty Hunter.  She may be beautiful, but she is twice as deadly.  Her loyalty lies with whomever's got the heaviest purse.   At times she will aid the group, and at others she will work against them.   She and Garrison shared a past.  And her goal in life is to revert the 'uptight' Garrison back to his old adventure-seeking self.  She has two loyal companions (...Not those two!  Geez!  Get your mind out of the gutter, guys!) not pictured here, who aid her on her adventures.

VILLAINS.  But of course, you can't have heroes with some nasties to go along with them... I'm saving the best for later...
